Hyundai Kona vs. Tucson: Differences
Of course, these vehicles are different in many ways, and here are just some of the ways in which they differ:
Electrification
In addition to its standard gas-powered option, the Hyundai Kona is available as the Kona Electric, giving you a pure electric option that doesn't use any fossil fuels. The Tucson doesn't have an EV yet, but it does come as the Tucson Hybrid and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid. The Kona Electric, which is technically a separate model provides 258 miles of driving range.
Performance
When comparing the overall power of each vehicle the Tucson has more overall power output than the Kona in most cases. The Tucson reaches 187 horsepower on standard options while offering 226 horsepower on hybrid models, and 261 horsepower with plug-in hybrid options. The Kona offers a standard gas-powered 147 horsepower, plus turbocharged options reach 195 to 207 horsepower. With its electric vehicle option, it attains 201 horsepower.
Size, Cargo Space and Passenger Room
As the larger vehicle, the Tucson has more passenger and cargo space, reach up to 80.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down and 108 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Kona has 45.8 cubic feet of cargo room with its rear seats down, and 94.1 cubic feet of total passenger volume.
Capability and Towing
Only the Hyundai Tucson is recommended for towing. With the right setup and equipment, the Tucson can tow up to 2,000 pounds. It is not recommended any towing be done with the Kona.
