Are you planning on driving a capable 3-row SUV around the Lexington Park, St. Mary's County, and Mechanicsville areas? If so, then you'd be in great hands with either the Hyundai Palisade or Nissan Pathfinder.
Both vehicles are popular picks among local drivers, but which one offers more of the features you're looking for? To put them to the test, Team Hyundai compared the 2020 Hyundai Palisade vs. 2019 Nissan Pathfinder.
Hyundai Palisade vs Nissan Pathfinder: Powertrain
If you're looking for power and capability, you're looking in the right place with either the Hyundai Palisade or Nissan Pathfinder. Both feature an impressive V6 engine that keeps you moving along.
- Palisade: 3.8L V6 that generates 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.
- Pathfinder: 3.5L V6 engine produces 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque.
Otherwise, both SUVs come standard with front-wheel drive, but many local drivers prefer a smart all-wheel drive (AWD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD) system for those slick wintertime commutes. Luckily, both the Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Pathfinder deliver here with an available smart system that improves traction control.

2020 Palisade vs 2019 Pathfinder Interior Specs

Now that we've had a good look under the hood, lets climb inside the cabin to see what their interiors have to offer.
The Palisade and Pathfinder will both show you a 3-row cabin with a standard 8-inch touchscreen display in the center stack. This is as big as it gets for the Pathfinder.
The Hyundai Palisade, however, also has an available 10.25-inch touchscreen and enough seating for up to eight passengers. The Nissan Pathfinder can seat a maximum of seven passengers.
However, both SUVs give you plenty of comfort features, like driver lumbar support and heated and cooled seats that help to regulate temperature.
When it's time to load up for a family getaway, you can pack a bit heavier in the Palisade, which has a total cargo volume of 86.4 cubic feet compared to 79.5 cubic feet of total cargo volume in the Pathfinder.

Smart Safety Features: Palisade vs Pathfinder
Finally, let's look at the tech designed to keep you safe when you hit the road. Each of these SUVs offer a full list of driver-assist features, including:
- Blind spot alerts
- Auto emergency braking
- Smart cruise control
The Hyundai Palisade takes its safety technology further, however, by adding in even more features, like Safe Exit Assist. This feature helps you exit the car while parallel parked on a busy street by locking the doors when traffic is approaching. If the doors are already open, it'll provide a chime to watch out for oncoming cars.
It also has a Driver Attention Warning system. This monitors your driving habits and issues an alert if it senses behaviors that may indicate drowsy or distracted driving. If you hear this alert, you may be due for a break from behind the wheel.
Unfortunately, the Nissan Pathfinder doesn't offer a comparable level of confidence during your drives through town.
