2020 Hyundai Palisade vs Kia Telluride: Powertrain Specs

If you're looking for some powerful engine specs, you've got it with both the 2020 Hyundai Palisade and 2020 Kia Telluride. Both SUVs come with the following engine:

  • 3.8L V6 engine
  • 291 horsepower
  • 262 lb-ft of torque.

They also pair their engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission with a shift feature that lets you take over in a limited manual mode when you crave more control over your drive.

While the additional upper gears on this transmission help to keep you efficient during highway driving, only the Palisade has the fuel-saving tech to help you preserve fuel and reduce emissions during city driving.

It does this with the Idle Stop & Go feature that powers down your engine during extended waits at stop signs and traffic lights. When you take your foot off the brake, your engine seamlessly roars back to life.

You can choose to equip your ride with a lightweight front-wheel drive system or the highly capable smart all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain. The AWD system in both the Palisade and Telluride automatically redistributes torque as needed between all four wheels to help you keep a firm grip on the road.

They also include an AWD Lock Mode to help you take on the tougher obstacles, as well as a Snow Mode that can maximize traction during wintertime commutes.

Altogether, both SUVs can tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Technology and Infotainment Features: Palisade vs Telluride

When you climb inside the cabin of either the Hyundai Palisade or Kia Telluride, you'll have all the infotainment technology you need for a great outing.

They both feature a standard 8-inch touchscreen in the center stack, with the option to upgrade to a 10.25-inch screen with integrated navigation. They also come standard with the following connectivity features:

  • Android Auto™
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Bluetooth®

These features allow you to integrate your smartphone features with your car's speakers and infotainment system to make hands-free phone calls, stream music from your device, or access your favorite apps, like navigation.

To really turn up the volume on the tunes, you'll want to upgrade to the available Harman Kardon® 630-Watt premium audio system. This sound system includes Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration Technology to decompress digital files and provide a clear sound.

In the Palisade, 12 speakers will be placed strategically around the cabin to create a surround-sound-like experience. The Telluride only has 10 speakers.
