2021 Hyundai Kona vs 2021 Hyundai Tucson

Serving Lexington Park, MD

For more than 15 years, the Hyundai Tucson has been a smart option for local drivers who desire a balance of value, style, and functionality from an SUV. Hyundai introduced the Kona a few years ago to add variety to its exciting lineup. While the 2021 Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover, the 2021 Kona is a subcompact crossover with a somewhat lower base MSRP. Our goal at Team Hyundai Southern Maryland is to support you through your selection of a new crossover, and this begins with a comparison between these top models.

Performance

Across the 2021 Kona’s six trim levels, you can enjoy exciting capabilities that stem from two powertrain options. These are a 147-horsepower, I-4, 2.0-liter option, and a 175-horsepower, turbo I-4, 1.6-liter alternative. In the Tucson, three engines are available across six trims. Lower trim levels receive 161 horsepower from a 2.0-liter I-4 engine. Top trim levels draw 181 horsepower from a 2.4-liter variant.

Appearance

Across the height, length, width, and wheelbase, the Kona is the smaller of these two models. It has a spirited, spunky exterior design that you will love showing off each time you cruise around town. While the nose and windshield are tapered for aerodynamics, the roof is tall to create ample space in the cabin. The body molding thickens over the wheel wells and the lower side panels for added character. The Tucson has a longer rear, angled side windows, and fairly even lower-body molding. Shared exterior items are a liftgate spoiler, LED lights, and powered side mirrors.

Features

These Hyundai crossovers leave no room for disappointment regardless of the trim level that you select. They have many of the same technologies and comfort features throughout their lineups. Higher-level trims have leather seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an Infinity sound system, an 8-inch color display screen, Blue Link, wireless device charging, and more.
