Hyundai Elantra: A Brief History

Introduced in 1990 and produced until 1995, the first-generation Hyundai Elantra was a hit. Debuting as a four-door compact car featuring Mitsubishi engine power, the Elantra quickly gained popularity.

The second generation of the Elantra appeared in 1995. During this time, the Elantra became not only available as a sedan, but as a wagon as well. The third generation, from 2000 to 2006, saw several changes for the Elantra. For instance, in 2001, it received an all-new look when the Elantra GT Hatchback replaced the wagon.

In 2007, the fourth generation was introduced to the market. It was during this time that Hyundai replaced the Elantra GT with the new Elantra Touring. Several changes took place in 2011 when the fifth generation debuted. Sporting an improved exterior and interior, the Elantra looked better than ever. By 2012, the Elantra received a revised powertrain and had developed a stylish sedan appearance.
